Standing in the gap by providing emergency food assistance to Tidewater families, while sharing hope in Jesus Christ.

Spreading the light of Christ, helping keep families together and free from hunger. Here’s how you can help:

Providing Manna.

The families we serve have no safety net.  They are desperately trying to provide the foundational necessities of life; food and shelter.  In many cases we meet these individuals after they have applied for food stamps in the 2-4 week window before they arrive.

Support. Encourage. Pray.

Manna Ministry fills the gap from when crisis strikes to when families can receive services from the state and other non-profit organizations. It is a first step in the path out of poverty and misery. Please partner with us in prayer over our families for God’s continued provision, peace in spite of their circumstances, and a new or strengthened relationship with Jesus Christ.

Connect toThrive.

Your help, generosity, and prayers can immediately fill stomachs, establish connections for long-term improvement, and demonstrate to our families how the love of Christ pursues them and finds them, wherever they are. An integral pillar of our ministry is the opportunity to connect our families with organizations created to provide them with education, training, and mentorship.

On average, it takes $100 per week to meet the immediate, essential needs of one family in crisis. It takes between three to four weeks for that family to begin receiving longterm assistance from other organizations. Manna Ministry seeks to stand in the gap during that difficult waiting period to help keep families together and free from hunger. Your generosity makes this possible.

  • Jesus called His followers to a life of compassion and service. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

The Bible Project thematic video titled “Justice” does a phenomenal job explaining and illustrating what this kind of love and service practically looks like. It is a video that Manna staff and volunteers watch and re-watch because it moves us to action! Click here to watch it!

ALICE® is an acronym coined by United Way that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. The ALICE population represents those of us (men, women, and families) who work hard and earn more than the official Federal Poverty Level, but less than the basic cost of living.

  • Our mission is to stand in the gap for families as they wait for long-term assistance from other agencies. We provide food and household essentials to families that do not have transportation and encourage a growing relationship with Jesus.
