  • Direct referrals from partnering organizations within the community. Our referral sources include the United Way of South Hampton Roads, The Up Center, The Keim Center, Norfolk General Hospital Violence Intervention Program, Blankets for the Homeless, Little Creek Elementary School, and Bayside Middle School. Manna also partners with other local charitable initiatives as a resource sponsor.

  • We receive referral.

    Candace calls family to learn more about situation, needs, urgency.

    They are inputed into our system with 3 triage levels. Red- Yellow - Green, Red is most urgent, usually helped within 1 day. Green - usually helped within one week.

    We pack & deliver their “manna”/necessities.

    Pray for them & Refer them out/Partner with other organizations to take them from surviving to thriving.

  • Yes! Manna Ministry is an officially registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with the state of Virginia.

  • Prayer: All Glory to God. This ministry is 100% His and we need prayer for discernment on how to be His hands & feet. We also have a prayer team that covers the prayer requests of the families we serve.

    Donate: These families need your tangible support, consider prayerfully sponsoring one family or giving monthly as a “Manna Member”.

    Volunteer: Many hands makes for light work! We are looking for drivers interested in connecting with our families and sharing the Gospel as the Spirit leads.

  • -No transportation = No food banks.

    -No Job/possible jobs = COVID

    -Many Children makes public transportation difficult.

    -Still waiting on qualifying for food stamps, unemployment, etc. It can be 2-6 weeks between application and processing completion.

    -Don’t have all the documentations needed to qualify for certain resources right away. ex: birth cert.

    -Have been denied at shelters based on their number of kids.

    -Waiting on the “red tape” to qualify for housing, etc.

  • Maximum 40 days. We are open to revisiting families as necessary (say a year goes by and they need emergency assistance.) However, each time we “accept a referral” for crisis intervention - we aim to close that case and refer them to long term help within 40 days.
