Jake

The following was submitted to us by Mr. Perez, whose entire family faithfully volunteers with us on a regular basis. This is about his 16 year old son, Jake.

“As a new driver, Jake takes a little longer to get places, and we were running late to his girlfriend's soccer game. His plan was to ask her to Homecoming.

As we were coming up on a stop Jake said Dad "get one of the those Manna grab bags out of the back so I can give it to this lady on the corner." I told him I couldn't reach it, and we might have to skip helping her because we were already late. Jake insisted, and I told him I couldn't reach it. So Jake pulled the car over, got the bag out, and walked it over to her. He said "I hope this helps a little bit."

Definitely a humbling and proud dad moment as you realize your son was right.”

Parents & Caregivers: Please do not underestimate the impact that volunteering can have on your children’s lives. Kids are sponges and when put in an environment where they can soak in the message of Christ and learn how to show love to our neighbors…God can (and WILL) do amazing things in their hearts. Thank you again to the Perez Family for stepping out in faith to serve with their children alongside them, and in doing so, demonstrating to all of us the importance of being a family on mission.
